On-line learning and exploration opens a world of possibilities for your child. However, your child can be exposed to inappropriate material and dangers as they explore the Internet. Parents all over the world are concerned about keeping their children safer online at home and at school. 
In response to this concern in the United States, a federal law, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), was created to help protect kids online. In addition, The Commonwealth of Virginia has mandated that every school division teach Internet Safety as part of the curriculum.
Even with this law and our efforts to teach Internet safety in school, your kid’s best online protection is YOU. By talking to them about online dangers and monitoring computer use at home, you’ll help your child maximize this valuable digital tool while staying safe online.
