ATHLETIC EVENTS FOR WEEK March 8-13, 2010

    Highschoolsports.net will have all the schedules for our athletic  teams.

Any Junior interested in being nominated for Boys or Girls State must see Mr. Kilmartin in the Guidance Office ASAP.


Attention Chancellor Chargers!  There is a new event coming to the school called "Charger Live!" -- Chancellor's own open-mic experience.  Come and display your own school-appropriate performance art, music, poetry, and comedy in front of a live audience!  The first "Charger Live" will take place on Wednesday, March 10 between 3 and 5 PM in the Chancellor library.  All are welcome to come and there is no charge to attend.  See you there on March 10!

Attention: Have fun Volunteering!

    The Battlefield Elementary PTO is looking for students to help with their Enrichment Program on Thursday March 4th and/or March 11th from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.  Volunteers are needed to assist with cheerleading, dance, building bird houses, sign language, art, outdoor survival skills, building a model vehicle, cooking, chess, crafts, sewing, scrap booking, stamping, etc.    Interested students can contact Beth at princessbetht@verizon.net .

Attention Seniors
Attention, Seniors!  Your graduation products and cap and gowns will be delivered on Friday, March 12th.  The Jostens Reps will be here during lunch to deliver your items.  If you still have a balance due, only cash or money  orders will be accepted.  Sorry, no personal checks.  All senior s are expected to pick up their items on this day.

Guidance - Scheduling
Students are reminded that the counselors are in the process of scheduling classes for next year.  Juniors will be scheduled next week during their History classes.  Please come to school prepared, by having your classes picked out for next year.  If you are wanting a class at the vocational center, make sure you complete the application.

All JV and Varsity boy's basketball players need to turn in travel bag and practice jersey to Coach Clements as soon as possible!


The PTSO is having a Vendor Bingo on March 13 in the school cafeteria.  Shopping starts at 5:30, Bingo starts at 6:30.  Reserved tickets are $15, at the door $20.  Call 287-5521 for information and reservations. Proceeds will go to After Prom.
    The PTSO will hold a Prom Dress Sale on March 13 at 4:30. All dresses will be $20.  If you donate at least 1 dress you will get a $5 discount on the purchase of another. For information please email BonnieEstep6@msn.com.  Proceeds will benefit After Prom.
    Any parents interested in helping with any aspect of the After Prom are invited to attend the PTSO meeting on Monday, March 15th at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Email BonnieEstep6@msn.com for more information.

Get published!  Chancellor's literary magazine La Menagerie needs student poetry, prose, photography, lyrics, artwork, and more!  Send submissions to Mr. Barber in B202.  Submission deadline is March 15 and selected entries will be published in May.

The Chancellor High School Guidance Department along with representatives from the sheriff's office would like to invite you to attend a seminar, “Sexting: What Every Parent Needs to Know.” It will be held Monday, March 15th at 6pm in the library. There will be a PTA meeting to follow. We look forward to seeing you!

    Liberty University will have a representative visiting Chancellor on Tuesday, March 16th @ 10:00 a.m.  If you are interested in attending sign up sheets are posted in the Career Center (located in the Guidance Office).

ATTENTION: SENIORS CONTINUING YOUR EDUCATION IN THE LEGAL FIELD

    See Mrs. Bennett in the Career Center for a scholarship opportunity.  The scholarships deadline is March 18th.     It is important that you see me asap.

ATTENTION: SENIORS Majoring in BUSINESS, ACCOUNTING, FINANCE, ECON., ETC.
    College bound seniors who will be majoring in a field of study directly related to financial/resource management, should see Mrs. Bennett in the Career Center ASAP for a scholarship opportunity.  Deadline: March 20th.

ATTENTION: SENIORS WHO ARE MILITARY DEPENDENTS
    Children of America's Marines and the children of Navy Corpsmen who serve with the Marines will be eligible for a scholarship if their parent is an active duty, retired, veteran or deceased Marine or Navy Corpsman attached to a Marine unit.  The students family's maximum gross income must be less that $82,000 in 2009 for eligibility.    For more information and to apply online go to www.mcsf.org .

Attention: students looking for volunteer hours.
    The Bread Basket (a Food Bank run by Salem Fields Community Church) is looking for volunteer to help at their food bank on the weekends.  Any amount of time you can spare will be appreciated.  See Mrs. Bennett in the Career Center for an information sheet.

Nursing and Dental
A representative from the Spotsylvania Career and Tech Center will visit Chancellor High on Tuesday, March 23rd at 10:00 a.m., with information about the Nursing and Dental programs offered at the Tech Center.  Interested students in grades 9-12 are invited to attend and can sign up in the Guidance Office.

Students and parents,
    If you are planning to drive to school and purchase a parking permit for the 2010-11 school year, it is required that you attend a safe-driving assembly.  If you have already attended one of these assemblies, you do not need to attend again.  Otherwise, the dates for the assemblies scheduled so far is listed below.  Please contact Mr. Gebhardt with any questions.
