Health/Privacy Information Statement
Spotsylvania County School Counselors adhere to the ethical standards of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). Therefore, counselors protect the confidentiality of the information received in the counseling relationship as specified by state and federal laws, written policies, and applicable ethical standards. Such information is only to be revealed to others with the informed consent of the student, consistent with the counselor's ethical obligation (ASCA ethical standards revised 2010). The only execption to this rule is in cases of harm to self/others or suspected child abuse.

Spotsylvania County Counselors: Belief Statements
- We believe all students have the right to a comprehensive school counseling program that provides academic, personal/social and future planning to meet or exceed Virginia Counseling Standards.
- We believe school counselors are an integral part of the total school community who teach, model and foster the development and application of life skills.
