Celebrate what is happening with

Spotsylvania's Fine Arts!

  • The Riverbend Drama Department competed in the District One Act Play Festival at Stafford HS with the Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. They placed second and will advance to the regional competition on Feb 18 in Danville Virginia. Shannon Farrow won an outstanding acting award at the District Event.

  • Congratulations to Jamie Hauber!  Jamie won the Young Artist Competition, Vocal Division, sponsored by the Fredericksburg Festival for the Performing Arts.  She was awarded a prize of $500.00 and will be performing with the Rappahannock Symphony Orchestra in March. Jamie is a senior at Chancellor HS.
  • Two Spotsylvania Schools are designated as "Blue Ribbon School of Music" this year! This is the highest honor for a music department in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Congratulations to Freedom Middle School and Chancellor High School's students and music directors.
  • These schools were award Superior or Excellent in competitions.
    • Freedom Middle Band - Director Chris Hoolver - Superior band at the Virginia State Assessments in 2011.
    • Battlefield Middle Band - Director Patrick Woodward - Superior rating in a competition in PA.
    • Courtland High Band - Director Donald Leonard - Superior band at the Virginia State Assessments in 2011.
    • Chancellor High School Chorus - Director Rhonda Miller - received the following awards;
      • Vocal Ensemble - Superior rating in concert and sight seeing
      • Women's Select Choir - Excellent rating in concert and superior in sight seeing
      • Women's Select Choir - First Place in the Women's Choir division at the at Busch Garden's Music in the Park Festival

 

Two Music Teachers were awarded Teacher of the Year for their schools!

  • Congratulations to Rhonda Noe - Music Teacher at Robert E. Lee
  • Congratulations to Corey Koch - Band Director at Massaponax High School

 

Melanie Bolas, Berkeley and Chancellor Elementary's Music teacher, was honored with the "Get Spotted" award June 2010.

Caitlin Lofaro, Art teacher, was Chancellor Elementary's Superstar for 2010-11.

Joanna Petters - was Spotsylvania High's December Teacher of the Month.
