  Celebrate what is happening with 

Spotsylvania's Fine Arts!

  • For years running the same two Spotsylvania Schools were designated as "Blue Ribbon School of Music" 2011-2012! This is the highest honor for a music department in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Congratulations to Freedom Middle School and Chancellor High School's students and music directors.

  • These schools were award Excellent and Superior in the District XV Orchestra Spring Assessments 2012.

- Middle School Superior: SMS Orchestra and NRMS
- High School Superior: CHHS Symphonic, RHS Concert, and CHHS Concert

  • These schools were award Superior in the District XV Chorus Spring Assessments 2012.

    Middle School awarded Superiors

- BMS Sweet Harmony, 6th Grade, and 8th Grade
- FMS Belle Musique, 6th Grade, 7th and 8th Grade
- TMS Bele Canto

High School awarded Superiors

- CHHS Vocal Ensemble,  Concert Choir:  Concert and Sight Reading and One Voice (Women's Select Choir): Superior in Sight Reading

  •   Congratulations to the following MHS Visual Art students:

- 25 student entries to Liberty Town Youth Art Show, www.libertytownarts.com 

MHS students made up 1/3 of youth exhibition and 4 student's work sold for the following price   

* Savannah Patterson - $75
* Jordan Shilling - $100
* Cassidy McFarlin - $60
* Jae Shaw - $80

- 20 student entries to the 17th Annual Fredericksburg Rappahannock Regional Library Art show.

Awards: (11th - 12th grade) :
Best in Show $100 - Savannah Patterson
First Place $100 - Christine Stacy
Third Place - $25 - Shannon Wright

First Place - $100 - Isobella Dillon

- 5 student entries to the National Rifle Association Youth Art Contest   Awards: Honorable Mention - Broderick Thompson

  • These schools were award Excellent and Superior in the District XV Band Spring Assessments 2012.

    • A Superior rating went to the following schools:

      - Thornburg 7th & 8th Band - Director Kevin Coleman

  •  Congratulations to the All-VA Choir students.  Every high school from Spotsylvania County got at least one student in All-VA

- From Spotsylvania: Stephanie Graulich, 1st Alternate Maggie Suhling and 1st Alternate Brendan Player

These students will travel to E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg in April to participate in the choir.

  • Congratulations to Ni River students who had artwork behind the dias at the SBO.

  •  The Riverbend Drama Department competed in the District One Act Play Festival at Stafford HS with the Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. They placed second and will advance to the regional competition on Feb 18 in Danville Virginia. Shannon Farrow won an outstanding acting award at the District Event.

  •  Congratulations to Jamie Hauber, CHHS!  Jamie won the Young Artist Competition, Vocal Division, sponsored by the Fredericksburg Festival for the Performing Arts.  She was awarded a prize of $500.00 and will be performing with the Rappahannock Symphony Orchestra in March.
