**Substitute Teacher Applicants** - You must submit a physician’s certificate indicating you are free of communicable tuberculosis. The test may be administered by your family doctor or an appointment can be made with one of the local health departments for a nominal fee. The results of the TB skin test must be submitted to the Human Resources office before your application will be considered complete. Once submitted your application can be submitted to the School Board for approval. Following approval, you will be contacted via the email provided on your application regarding attending a Substitute Orientation Training.  Please include your PID # on all documentation submitted to the Human Resources Department. If you have any questions, please contact Paula Golden-Boruch at 540-834-2500 ext. 1500.

Daily and Long-Term Pay Rates
 
College Degree (Bachelor degree or higher) - $70
Long Term Assignment (Degree Only) - $110
Long Term Assignment (Certified Only) - $165
Teachers Aide (Paraeducator) - $55
 
 
Substitute teachers are employed and paid on a per diem basis. Substitute teachers are not employed under contract with the school board. The per diem pay differentiates between persons having a four year college degree and others. The daily rate of pay for a substitute aide is lower than that of a substitute teacher. This rate is the same regardless of degree status and length of service.
 
Long-Term:
If the term of service is for (15) consecutive days for the same teacher, an approved degreed substitute will be paid $70.00 a day for the first five days of the contract. On the sixth day of the assignment, until the end of the contract, not to exceed 90 days, the substitute with a four year degree will be paid $110.00 a day and a substitute holding a valid teaching certificate will be paid $165.00 a day.
