Dear Colleague,
Welcome to Spotsylvania County Schools’ Professional Learning program. Our program continues to focus on increasing achievement. All staff are expected to base their choice on student achievement data at their school and in their immediate classroom.
High Quality Professional Development results in:
- deepening and broadening the knowledge and skills of teachers,
- a positive and lasting impact on classroom practices, and
- improving the learning of all students.
The 2010-2011 professional development program contains choices that support professional growth. The choices include participation in In-House Courses, Academies or Institutes, College Courses, Study Groups, and North TIER. All choices adhere to some strict guidelines:
Your choice must:
- be directly related to your teaching assignment,
- be aligned with the curriculum and division initiatives, and
- meet with the approval of your principal based on your school's PL Plan and your individual needs.
Registration for the professional development program will begin on April 26, 2010.
Please be aware: all courses are pending sufficient enrollment in order to be "a go." We do our best to announce cancellations with enough advance notice for registrants to make alternate plans.
We are indeed fortunate to be part of a school system where professional growth for teachers is a high priority. It is our hope that you will take full advantage of this opportunity to grow professionally and interact with your colleagues.
Feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions.
Sincerely,
Ruth Kochenour
