It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Spotsylvania County Schools, Office of Special Services Webpage. I am very pleased with the information that has been summarized here and know that you find it helpful.

Spotsylvania County Schools provides a full range of programs and services designed to support the learning outcomes for all students. We are strongly committed to the belief that all children can reach their potential given sufficient time, support, and individualized instruction that is designed to meet their specific learning needs and strengths. As much as possible these services and supports are provided in a child’s home school. This school based approach requires creative, flexible, equitable and wise use of the resources allocated to each school. It also requires strong partnerships among home, school and community agencies. Our multi-disciplinary approach that supports the student as well as the classroom teacher and educational support staff is a key ingredient in the success of our special education program delivery model. 

Our school administrators play a critical role in providing special education. They work continuously to foster a team approach, to create a welcoming and inclusive environment in their schools and to maintain high standards for all learners. The Principals and Assistant Principals in our schools are available throughout the school year to meet with parents to address special education concerns and facilitate planning that will assist the student’s pathway to success. I strongly encourage parents to work closely with classroom teachers and school administration in order to advocate for their child’s needs. We sincerely appreciate family partnership in meeting the needs of all students.
